A job done.................

Dearest Mom
On Friday, while Button was at work, I got stuck into this....................

...............after a few hours of scrubbing and cleaning, I unpacked the kitchen and it looked like this................ the flat they are renting is very old but spacious.....................

Then we went to IKEA to get some more bits and bobs for Button's room. To be honest, IKEA is not my cup of tea. It is HUGE and there are so many things to choose from - no one to help you - very impersonal - but maybe it's because I am old - Button loved the whole experience. Once you choose what you want, you then have to go and FIND your purchase - that is Button, WAY down the end of that MASSIVE aisle ...........................

We had a few issues to get around - she is not allowed to hang things on the walls (no nails can be used) - problem was solved with a few small butcher hooks and black/white spotted ribbon.

a room is not quite complete without some roses.......................

.............................AND fairy lights....................

With no sewing machine available - adjusting the tabs on her curtains proved challenging - we then found these giant buttons..............................

..........book shelf from IKEA - but bookends were expensive - jars filled with marbles work a treat................

.................study area - a little desk, pink chair and blackboard.........................

..............cupboards and storage space - IKEA - Button is a whizz at assembling the furniture now ......

Button lives in Randwick now - I could so easily live in Sydney - especially Randwick or Coogee.

The area is filled with lovely old homes, lots of tiny restaurants and cafes and not a chain store in sight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can see myself living here - has sea views too..........

Button lives a block away from the main street in Randwick - so we walked to the shops, restaurants etc. This photo was taken at night on our way back from dinner.

Our last dinner - we attempted to cook on their gas stove - I have never used one in my life - Button obviously has - but modern ones in restaurants - we couldn't get it to work - nothing that a phone call to Jane couldn't solve.....................We also did not have all the ingredients - no chillies or garlic - but it was still delish - prosciutto and pea pasta with blue cheese - yummy........

Despite me feeling so awful - we achieved what we set out to do - made Button's room pretty and functional.
