Sooooo, while I was playing...........

Dearest Mom and Dad
So, on Saturday, while I was out with the girls, Vaughn did this for me. He organised a huge sewing room - by the time I came home all I had to do was to choose which quilts I wanted to hang.
So I chose my least favourite quilt - I made for Button before we immigrated................

And my absolute favourite quilt - the one that was one my bed when Gareth and Button were little. I have such fond memories of a life lived on this quilt.
I also hung Gareth's animal quilt.
Now Granny's dressing table can be of use.

This scrappy quilt was in my old sewing room.

Vaughn set up my "Crazy station"

Somewhere to keep fabric - I still need to empty the cupboard in the other room.

My notice board...........................

The quilt that "quilter's by the sea" gave to me for my 40th.

Space for my books, Gareth's Elvis clock and a basket for George.

A table in the middle of the room - perfect for cups of tea. Jane and I have christened it already.

Shelving my junk and photos of my precious parents !!

Cutting table and storage.

AND he put up a few of my favourite photos!!!
So, what do you think???
I must admit I was very touched - the attention to detail!!!!

A day out with the girls..............

Dearest Mom and  Dad
We headed off to Brissie for the day - quilts from V&A museum were on display (circa 1700 to 1945) ..................we all wondered around aimlessly for a while not quite sure where we were going................

We were on Southbank - do you recognise this from your "great train journey" ??

Of course, we had to eat. Not the best muffin I have ever had.

In order to get a sneaky photo in I had to make a loud noise so that I could get their attention!!  Fiona and Tish look suitably alarmed. Debs knows me well and was not alarmed by the loud noise I made.. And Jane completely ignored me!!!

No photos were allowed of the quilts - but............................ this quilt was made by the women prisoners on one of the prison ships. Quite amazing really....................

I love these water features...................................I want one

A spot of reading.............................

We saw this beautiful quilt in the flesh - its so hard to believe that most of these quilts are 300 hundred years old.

The ticket sellers.

Our table number.
A few of us went to see the Aboriginal art on display - really fascinating stuff and beautiful too.

And while I was enjoying myself Vaughn was working very, very hard at home transforming my sewing room.
I will take some photos for you.

Whales, sunrises and a delcious recipe...........

Dearest Mom and Dad
It is still a bit chilly when I wake up at 5.30 to go for our walk................

...............................but the sunrises are quite something....................

..........................even more stunning from the beach...................

........................then, when we turn for home it looks like this. Debs and I saw 2 whales the other - so close to the beach................

Jane gave me the latest NZ House & Garden mag to read. If you can get in in SA buy it, Mom.........

............................beautiful homes, this one reminds me of yours, and delicious looking recipes..

OH MY GOSH!!!! This recipe might not look like anything BUT it was delicious. I can see Dad enjoying it with a glass of white.

Here is the recipe - so unbelievably simple, but as Button would say, that's what great food is about, simple flavours beautifully combined.

Pasta with prawns, lemons, anchovies and capers.

about 300g dried Italian pasta (about 4 servings)
400g prawn cutlets
1/2 good olive oil
3 cloves of garlic crushed
1 lemon cut into 8 wedges
2 tablespoons capers
4 chopped anchovies
(I did add chillies to mine)

To serve
parmesan
chopped fresh herbs eg lemon basil and thyme

Method:
Cook pasta
Heat1 tablespoon olive oil add prawns and cook 3-4min until just pink. Remove and keep warm.
Add rest of olive oil to pan with garlic, capers, lemons and anchovies (I added the chillie at this stage)
Heat through for 3-5 min until fragrant and infused (oh wow, the smell at this stage was amazing)
Return prawns to the pan with cooked pasta - toss and heat through.
Mom, you have to try this......

In my sewing room I am working through my half square triangles

and am getting seriously addicted to clamshells...............

A bit of this and that.......

Dearest Mom and Dad
We had a busy week going over the final draft of the book. So basically, this is the last time I will see the book until it is a "book".
Cindy - Thursday crazy class - turned 50, so we had a bit of a party!
The weather is absolutely beautiful and the Wattle trees are doing their thing.............

Sunday's picnic was at Caloundra - surprisingly chilly in the wind.

These trees at the bottom of our garden remind me of Carol.................................

I started a little clam shell project.................................love them but don't know if I will ever make a quilt - I find stitching these by hand the best method - not English paper piecing.
By the way all my quilts look sooooooo good in your new home.

We have had a lovely few days...................

Dearest Mom and Dad
The weather has been beautiful and we have spent most of our time quietly at home.....................

Eating...............................

The pets are very happy Button is home too..................

Pizza at Mooloolaba.................we sent a photo of the picnic to Gareth but I think he was more jealous of the pizza!!

While Button slept - I turned this ugly opshop jumper..........................

...............into an equally ugly teacosy for Button. Only joking - we love the teacosy..............
