A little bit of this and that...........

Dearest Mom and Dad
Jane, Ady, Moi and Cathy met for lunch at Benkii...........

Cute little place - Button was an apprentice for the owner a few years ago.............

Field mushrooms and goat's cheese baklava - very good.................

Orange and pistachio cup cake - could have done with a dollop of cream ........

The Rays played their game at home for the season - all things considered - they did not do too badly - they came 6th. Here are a few of the WAGS (wives and girlfriends) after quite a few glasses of bubbly!!!!!!!!

Seen at work - a lovely grandmothers flower garden quilt..........

Marie's quilt - Marie is a recycler of note - she made this quilt using men's shirts........

Marie and I at Crazy - before she left early - a big thunderstorm was heading our way.........

Fortunately, the storm missed us.....................

Small houses................

Dearest Mom and Dad
We have had LOTS of rain lately - but Cathy and I have not walked for ages - so come hell or high water - we walked and talked!!!! It was so good to see her.

The weather cleared on Sunday, we had a lovely breakfast in Cotton Tree with the tall people. Gareth then tried to show Nat how many fish he could catch with his new lure - he caught NONE!!!

Vaughn had a long sleep on Saturday - his flight was delayed on Friday night due to bad weather - so he was pretty tired -I decided to try and make a house mini quilt - hmmmmm did not really work out as planned.......

Talking about mini houses - look at this cute house - in fact you might like looking at the site - Hooked on Houses........

...........most of these mini houses are made up of recycled timber............. this one is only 12' by 28' - amazing really..............

.............I want one..........

I think you have to be pretty neat and organised to live in them............too darn cute!!

We are off to watch the Rays play their last game of the season at home. We won the last game we played - but don't get too excited - we did play the "cellar dwellers"!!!!! This time we are playing Sunnybank - which will be a different cup of tea!!!

A little bit of this and that...........

Dearest Mom
I am very very very very excited about two happenings - Firstly, I will be seeing Bok in December - oh, my, hat!!!!! The only thing that worries me is that he is such a good cook and a tad critical - so what the b$##y hell am I going to cook for him and Georgie???????

The second happening is Dragon Boat racing - I just LOVE it!!!! It was cold, wet and windy - and I didn't know anyone - AND the technique is really difficult to learn but I still enjoyed it. I am feeling a bit sore - in the strangest places - after my first session. I cannot wait - after my training I can join a team and get all the kit - gloves, vests, shoes and stuff~~~~

I am working my way through the "Happiness Project" at the moment. It's not really about being happy - so much as living a "full" and purposeful life, I suppose. The first months tasks are :

1. get more sleep - which is a problem for me because I like to go to bed late and wake up early.

2. Exercise better - hence the dragon boat - although I have been wanting to do this for a while now.

3. Toss and organise - BIG problem for me - it was very hard to throw away the HUGE pile of unfinished crossword magazines that live at the bottom of my cupboard!!!.

4. Act more energetic - which might be a problem for the people around me - so I gave that one a miss!!!

I am doing a bit of crazy along the way...............

......my pile of giant tumblers has grown - because they are so big I only have to do 441 - so I am half way ..........

Ever since we moved here Gareth has been trying to catch fish at the lake - well, he bought this new lure - and still had no luck - until I said to him - "why don't you just drag the lure behind you (in the water of course) as we walk - he did - success - in fact, during one walk he caught FOUR flatheads - he does release them....

........ugly little things aren't they - people do eat them - I wouldn't.................

I want one of these rugs - aren't they gorgeous????

The Rays were taught a rugby lesson by Brother's on Saturday, I cannot bring myself to tell you the score. I did like it when Gareth played for Brothers - the club has so much history and tradition - reminds me of DHS Oldboys in Durbs.

No more news..........

Missing you...................

Look, I just don't know.............

Dearest Mom
I can get some things to grow and flourish eg.

1. My waist line.
2. Gareth - all of 6f 4in and 113kg!!!!

3. My pile of big and ugly tumblers..............

4. The strawberry plant.

BUT the b$#$#y parsley!!!

I did find some evidence that Charlotte is using the container as a toilet!!!!!!!!! Could this be the reason why my parsley "crop" is failing??????

Button's visit.........

Dearest Mom and Dad
While we were enjoying a visit from Button, two families on the Sunshine Coast were facing their worst nightmare. Halley Appleby died a few weeks ago during a rugby match. He played for Noosa and then for Queensland Uni - it was only fitting that the Rays travelled to Noosa to play in a game that celebrated Halley's life. His brave Mom read a poem out and his Dad said a few words.
But my heart broke for Daniel Morcombe's mom - a man has been charged with his murder - so the reality is that Daniel will never be coming home - Daniel was abducted about 8 years ago. His parents never gave up looking for him - quite incredible.

Back to Button's visit. It was a very short one - she arrived late Friday night - I worked on Saturday - we then went to Noosa for the rugby.
Saturday night we went out for dinner...... Mulu Char........

The family - shame - Vaughn does look so tired - travelling to Brisbane everyday is not easy...

Mulu Char is an African style restaurant - hence the "Castle" for Gareth!!

Gareth ordered ribs and steak...........

................ a few minutes later.

Button and Nat - nice expression there, Button!!

"Romany cream" cheesecake..........

The tall people..........

Wonder what these two are talking about - they spent all their time together - chatting....

My little family know what I like - so off we went to Point Cartwright with George and Squash!! Lovely way to end off my weekend with all my little chicks under one roof.

Dad, how's this for an action shot of your grandson - you can read the article here. We did lose to UQ - but they do have NINE Reds (or contracted) players in their team.

Friends.................

Dearest Mom
As I have said so many times before, I am very, very fortunate to have such caring friends. When I (or you for that matter), am feeling down - I have friends that lift me up.
I only hope that I am as good a friend to them.

Thank you, Sue!

A baby Button

Dearest Mom and Dad
Button will be home for the weekend - soooo excited.
Do you remember what a fat baby she was? Her cheeks look as though they are about to explode!!!! AND those "wellies" that Gareth refused to take off - wow, the smell!!

I hope she didn't trip on that shoe ............... all of 8 months and a few days - walking!!!!

Where have the years gone??

The weekend that was............

Dearest Mom and Dad
I was able to watch Gareth play rugby in Brisbane - have not been in a while - they did lose - but I think they played their best rugby. They have managed to play the same team for the last 3 games - something they have not done the whole season.
Button will be home on Friday for the weekend - WOOOOHOOOOO - can't wait. She has already told me what she would like to eat!!!!

She will be minus James - he is still in Japan..............

While Jane continues to painstakingly ("fussy") cut her fabric...........

......for her "This goes with that" quilt........

.....looking good.............

.........I decided to do something with the fabrics from about 20 years ago.............I have no idea why I am so sentimental about them ...........anyway, a few months ago I started cutting out these HUGE tumbler shapes - I have started covering them with my South African fabrics .........

I think I should just use them up in one quilt.............

Vaughn, Gareth and I went for brekkie in Mooloolaba this morning - it was beautiful........

Still no movement from the parsley seeds!!!
