and had the most delish cake!

Vaughn and I did a bit of sorting through thee kist - and found all sorts of treasures there - remember Button wearing these????

Then I went for tea with Sue...........................

Had some more cake - I went back to the same café - because its pretty hard to find good cake here on the Coast................

So cute - I thought...................

A quiet kind of week......................

Dearest Mom and Dad
Its been a bit quiet around here lately - I am trying to get a few things finished in my sewing room..............AND Jane has gone to the UK for 6 weeks!!!!

When I was with Button I managed to stitch the last hexies in my scrap quilt.....................I am pretty happy with is - I mean I know there is nothing technical or creative about it. I just LOVE paper piecing!!!!

Last winter I started this little rug - but I got a bit bored with it...................

So I decided just to do granny stripes - I am kind of regretting I changed my mind - but ...................

Judy - she comes to my Tuesday Crazy class - made me this cute little mug bag. !!!!

On Thursday night we are working on a group quilt - these are the fabrics that I am using - I have had them for a couple of years ............................it's going to be interesting to see if I can conform to working at other people's pace............................... not my strong point!!!!
Its going to be fun though - all working together.

Mom, you have to make this...................

Dearest Mom,
Try Bill Granger's delish "fish pie" this weekend - it really was very good and so quick and easy.

Fish Pie

800g potatoes - peeled and cut into chunks (I did not peel the potatoes - as we like the skin)
1 glove garlic - crushed
4 spring onions - sliced
zest and juice of 1 lemon
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup crème fraiche
3 anchovy fillets - finely chopped
1 tblsp capers - rinsed
parley leaves - chopped
800g mixed fish - (I used half salmon and half white fish) cut into chunks
handful baby spinach

Cook potatoes in salted water - until very tender.
Drain - return to pot and add garlic, spring onions and lemon zest. Stir in olive oil, breaking up potatoes as you go.
Season with salt and pepper.

Combine crème fraiche, capers, anchovy fillets, parsley and lemon juice. Sir well and season. Fold through fish and spinach.
Spoon into a greased dish and top with rough potato mash.
Drizzle with olive oil and bake- uncovered - at 200deg C - for 20 min or until golden.
Enjoy!!!

This is part of the library.................

There she is collecting a video to watch for an assignment.............looks more like an airport than a library!!

Interesting poster..................I thought

Ummmmmm............................

The grounds around the campus................

A poster for a production of Henry 1V - good description of the play " A father rejected. A son corrupted. A nation rocked"

Button's new home

Dearest Mom and Dad
Well, Button is in and settled - I worked my bum off!! Her loft room looks lovely - and she did approve off me shoozing her little clothing area  - it looked a little bland , nothing that a couple if fake roses and baskets can't solve !!
I am exhausted!!!! Do is she, it is now 10pm and we are starting her next assignment which is due tomorrow !!!!

I love Sydney!!

Dearest Mom and Dad
As you know I am helping Button move into her new home - a gorgeous loft room in Paddington.
It has not been an easy move - between Button's assignments and presentations for Uni and working at a new job .....

But, I do get to walk around Surrey Hills and Paddington and see the sights! When I win the lotto and have $2 million or so to spare I am moving here! I would live here in a flash!

The woman who owns this tiny coffee place right on a street in Surrey Hills used to work in a bank when she immigrated here. Trust me, it's tiny - not much bigger than a cupboard! She sourced the best food from a patisserie who delivers to her 3 times a day. The food is to die for. And she does a roaring trade!!!!!
Back to work for me!!!!

A snake and stuff

Dearest Mom and Dad
I know what it Mother's Day is like for you now, Mom - not very nice with no kids around!!!!

On my walk the other day I came across this little beauty basking in the sun. He was very chilled - just looked up at me when I bent down to take a photo!!!!

My scrappy hexie quilt is coming along - nearly ready to tack and quilt!!

I went our for a light lunch with Cathy - the little tea cozy was so cute - Cathy's favourite colour. It is always good to see Cathy .......................

Still doing the vegetarian thing - butternut, leek and pea risotto - was delicious!!!!!!!

I am heading off to Sydney again on Wednesday as you know - to help Button move!!
