A birthday surprise............

Dearest Mom and Dad
So there George and I were, working on the book (the first draft is due in about FOUR weeks) and I heard someone open the front door and walk in. Needless to say, I pooped myself...........................

But in walked Button, Jess and her beautiful baby Oriah. What a wonderful surprise!!!!
And Jess is the most gentle of mothers, I felt quite emotional about it all.

Oh Mom, Jess's baby is so very, very beautiful.

Button had done some shopping for her in Bali.

So off we went......................

Yup, correct.......................

to eat.........................

Get Fresh in Cotton Tree.

Now for my birthday I bought myself this magnificently ugly 1930's quilt.

Oh how I LOVE it. The only thing is, so does Button.

We headed of on a little road trip for my birthday.

Discovering lovely shops and restaurants along the coast - ending up at Sunshine Beach for yet ANOTHER meal.

It was a great, great, great day.

In fact, I have been a little spoilt of late. I had Gareth all to myself for about 10 days and Button is here for 5.

Food was good. So was the champers.

And the company.

Mooloolaba prawns.

And Button had a few gifts for me from Bali.

I wish that you were here to share my day with me.

Yes, we are still alive

Dearest Mom and Dad
Vaughn and I don't seem to leave the house - but we are making good progress and I think we will make the deadline for the first draft, which is due at the end of November.
Charlotte seems to be taking it all in her stride.

I do manage to cook - well, sometimes. This is a salmon and pasta dish - was really good.

Shame, poor Vaughn, he is busy, busy, busy - drafting my patterns....

....... thank goodness he can decipher what is in my head.

My veggie patch is looking good. I have no idea why I found this so moving - just a pea twirling around the stake.................

I have been feeling very guilty because I have been putting off the neighbours girls from visiting. So I decided to invite them for cupcakes and tea. I sent them a letter - they were soooo excited - they got all dressed up and arrived bearing little gifts for me.

And then Vaughn still has to do a spot of veggie garden maintenance - building a trellis for the climbing plants.

Tough days for him - because as you know, he does ALL the computer work and draws the illustrations for the book.

All my love

Things are growing.............

Dearest Mom and Dad
So, the veggie garden is thriving....................this is what it looked like a few days ago..

Look at it now..............

Jane came over and picked some lettuce, mint, chives and celery for her salad. Now that's impressive for me, is it not????

I received this very sweet little package in the post the other day from Gareth - the most gorgeous smelling soap. So unexpected..........

Glorious weather again..........

I made tuna lasagne - a family favourite from Umhlanga days. (remember Merryl?)

Button is in Bali.......................... with Leah .....................

.........................to celebrate a family wedding ..................

Looking glamorous!!

I believe the spiders in Bali are on the large side!!

Charlotte............

And every time a pull out a basket of fabric Squash thinks its for her benefit.............
and moves from one basket......

to the next.

I made this little purse thingy the other day using a hand towel bought from an op shop.

Vaughn and I are making good progress and it looks like we are well ahead of schedule!
