Crochet day and a picnic

Dearest Mom and Dad

Mushroom stroganoff for dinner.

My crochet project and a little purse thing that I made a few years ago and then recently I "fussed" up.

Karyn, who comes to my crazy classes invited us to a day of crochet at her house. So, Jane and I packed up our stuff and headed off.

Lots of crochet projects were on the go.

Karyn fed us all day - delicious vegetarian meal. She informed us that this was the first meal she had ever cooked without meat!

It was so good to sit there amongst my "students" and enjoy their company instead of busily teaching them. Karyn did remark on how quiet I was.

Karyn has the most beautiful on the water.

A plant I spotted on ONE of her decks.

On Sunday, Vaughn and I went for a picnic at the Maleny Botanical gardens.

We have been there before, so we knew that we could take Bon and George.

Breakfast.

Beautiful day.

Interestingly, enough, it is owned by ex South Africans who come from Durban. Kan jy nit glooi?

I took my camera and tried to remember how to use it.

Sometimes I had other things to distract me.

It is not really a traditional botanical garden - and in saying that, I don't really know what I mean. Its open and uncluttered - sort of modern, in a way.

We cant wait until December when Gareth, Chloe, Button and Gus can enjoy the day with us.

Namaste.

It was a big day. Bon enjoyed a swim or two in the little ponds and waterfalls. Bon loves George and always waits for him - he is now quite slow and sometimes a bit confused. A lovely thing for him in his twilight years; as you know Squash did think that George was a bit beneath him.

I am missing you terribly at the moment.

Free fruit and a grand final

Dearest Mom and Dad
So, kids can have a piece of free fruit in Woolies while their parents shop!

Everybody in Canberra was preparing for the arrival of Vaughn and Button.

Friday night dinner

Having fun.............

And they won!

Oh happy days............

Chloe and Gareth.

Button being silly..........

After game dinner and celebrations.

Winners are grinners...............

While the rest of my family were celebrating I went to a car boot sale after teaching - I could leave this little 1960's basket behind. I bought it and Jane is now the proud owner.

George has not been too good of late.

However, Bonnie continues to charm and steal our food.

The view along my walk this week.

A quilt finish and a visit to Canberra

Dearest Mom and Dad
WOOOHOO
Your quilt is quilted in just 10 days!!  I absolutely love this quilt - it is possibly my favourite of all time - so, I am unbelievably happy that you get to have it.

Think of me every time you see it.

Like everything I make - I want you to use it and enjoy it.

The weather has been glorious...........

Unlike Canberra..............

where it has been very, very cold.

I partook in another hike - this time we went through a tunnel that was built in 189something - not very happy - it was pitch dark and we could hear bats doing their thing.

So we hiked right to the top of that  mountain (or hill) ...................... and then down again.

Hikers are very chatty people.

Bon at the beach..........

I mean,  the weather

Stunning.....................

Both the picnic quilt (made when Gareth was a baby) and Vaughn's hands are showing the signs of aging.

He still looks great though................

Vaughn, Bon and George...........

I am now on to making some gifts for family in South Africa........

Merryl placed her order........................

Vaughn spent a few days in Canberra - Gareth was obviously very happy about posing for a photo.

Beanies in their house - must be cold.

Semi-finals........ Captain, my captain....................

Line out............

Busy in a loose ruck..............

tackling a bit high there, Gareth................

The sacrifice for a win.............

Then home for a lasagne cooked by Chloe which Vaughn has been raving about since his homecoming.

My big machine is in for a service so I am using this little Elna Lotus - quite the amazing little machines. I found one at a market the other day for Chloe.
