Crikey, we went to the zoo.............

Dearest Mom and Dad
Vaughn, Gareth and I went to the Australian zoo - we have never been there and have lived on the Coast for 10 years. Vaughn was adamant that he wanted to feed the elephants................

Gareth decided to join him.............

So did I, and for some unknown reason I started crying after feeling her trunk gently take the food from my hand...........

We were very impressed with the whole setup - very hands on ............

To be honest, I find the kangaroo to be the strangest animal on earth - look at their funny paws.............. and to see them on the move - too strange.................

I did not realise that echidnas are so big - their tongues are 18cm long.........who knew????

Thank goodness their weren't any big reds around ...................

Vaughn and Gareth having lunch and watching the croc show with Bob, Bindi and (can't remember Steve's wife's name) any way................ that show also reduced to me to tears - I loved the wild birds doing their thing........................

....................tiger .....................look how close we could get - there was glass between us though......

The African section is relatively new...............my favourite animal - the giraffe - were not let onto the Savannah area. I was told that they are not "sure footed" and the ground is not yet like the Savannah so when the weather is very wet they keep them safely in an enclosure.

The "food court' in the African section...... clever, I thought................

The toilets - I could be in Phinda................

Token koala photograph- we were allowed to touch them - but they were sleeping so we let them be........

We had such a good day......................expectantly good...............

We missed Button though.........................

Bye for now Button..................

Dearest Mom and Dad
A walk at Point Cartwright ...................

................. a nice photo..............

............... a beautiful day ....................Button said that she was not looking forward to the below freezing temperatures in Japan........

.................. an exhausted "Gem squash".............

..............it was then off to the airport - and another awful goodbye - it was a good thing that I took my sewing as it kept my mind off things on the way home (Button flew from the Gold Coast airport which is over 2 hours away)...............

Christmas day..............

Dearest Mom and Dad
Today is our last day with Button, she leaves for Japan early tomorrow morning.............. her time at home flew by.............
Christmas morning - it turned out to be a beautiful clear day ...................

Vaughn's gifts included a book that made us cry (from Gareth)..............

................. a lovely meaningful card from Button.................

My gifts, on the other hand, included a diary (what are they trying to tell me)and a ping pong set - no heart wrenching gifts for me!!!!!!!!!!!

Button liked her Marilyn pj's..........

Nat made up a survival kit for Gareth................

I believe it is very boring in Canberra ...................so the kit did include items with which Gareth could keep himself amused........

My ham - I followed your recipe - I think I left it in the oven a bit too long.......but it tasted good...............

Our table, which was cleared very quickly to play ping pong...........

................... it was great fun - except the boys won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took to the pool - I was much better at watching than playing!!!

Button was good at ping pong AND lounging .............

So that is that, Christmas over for another year - next year we must make sure that we are all together!!!!!!!!!!!

Last photos of Bok's visit ....................

Dearest Mom and Dad
While it was sooooooooo good to see Jonathan and Georgie, it did remind me me of how much I miss my family - Australia is so far away........This will be our 9th Christmas in Oz and I think it may be one of my saddest..............Anyway, moving on.........

A very formal looking photo - except of Georgie! - enjoying our "momos" (a Tibetan dish made by an ex-Tibetan monk who gave it all up for an Aussie girl - romantic stuff - true story, I met the girls Mom a few months after arriving here)

A costume adjustment - cute photo - Montville...........

Bok and I - Montville............

Food, glorious food - Ba Vigo - where Button worked a while back - she loved working here - great kitchen - owner passionate about creating delicious food............

Prawns and aoli..........

Tea soaked currants, potatoes, preserved lemon, sumac and (your favourite) seared scallops.......
the flavours - wow............

My absolute best thing - chocolate ravioli .............

As you can see, most of our time was spent eating and drinking!!!!!
