It's too darn hot!!!

Dearest Mom and Dad

It has been so hot here lately !!
I have been cooking up a storm - roasted peppers and butternut, fetta and Parmesan stuffed mushroom with balsamic glaze!!

Squash had a cut - which she hates - I don't blame her - she looks awful with no fur ....

I think she took out her anger on my quilt!!

I managed to get the top done -I will wait until its cooler to hand quilt it.

OOOOO! Now this recipe was delish - roasted butternut, ricotta bake !!!

I made this little mug bag http://www.red-brolly.com/sew-chic-butterfly-mugbag/ - I upcycled a doillie

cute isn't it?? I am going to use it as a sewing caddy instead.

Working on something new........

On Saturday I packed my bags and went off to teach my cozy class at the Patchwork Angle only to discover that I was a moth early!!! OOPS

BUT, I did see this cute little felted pincushions for sale - I do NOT need another pincushion but................................. it was too sweet to leave behind!!

Cooking again................

Dearest Mom and Dad
So, my little cactus is getting too big for the teacup it is in................it seems that I am very good at growing succulents ....................but then again, who isn't??

Margret popped in last week - and said lets go for tea .................so we did.........

I have been a bit slack about cooking for myself while Vaughn is away - so I got organised - I added chickpeas, olive oil, parsley and mint (I used dried mint because I forgot to buy it fresh)

.............butternut, parsnips and harrisa............. and popped it in the oven .............

.................made a hummus sauce - yes,I did. Delish!!!Served on sour dough bread...........

I am so enjoying teaching with my book.................

This little quilt has been lying around for a while - I think might do some embroidery on it .....................................

The moon has been so bright on our side of the world lately, Dad. I have a quiet moment with it every night, thinking of you....................

I baked for the Buderim group yesterday - old school baking Button would say...

Spent a bit of time in my sewing room - this scrap quilt is HUGE.......

I spent such a lovely morning in Maleny the other day - listened to a local author talk about her book, had brekkie and a spot of shopping. Have I told you that I love Maleny - actually, it reminds me a lot of Carol.

I did a foolish thing the other day............................................ as you know, I very seldom use my sewing machine. I, by mistake, packed it away in the sewing cabinet WITHOUT switching it off!!!! Well, went I went to use it on Thursday it was soooooooooooooooooooo hot!!!!!
I could have set the house alight!!

A challenge - one or two ..................

Dearest Mom and Dad
So, remember that "Fibre arts" challenge that got me all emotional??
It was show and tell time on Monday.................
Cathy's was lovely - she grew up in a dry part of the country - but there were roses ............
I liked this one

I am new to the group so I unfortunately don't remember everybody name. This woman can recalled her mother whistling and playing records - so she turned a record bought from an opshop into a work of art.

Oh wow - as usual Joan delivered - these giant ant were made from a belt and a necklace - I think. There was a wonderful story connected to these ants - of her daring her brother to walk over an ant mound.......................

A miniature Guy Fawkes bonfire was another childhood memory.

I decided to use the skills that a little girl Jennifer would have had at the time of my memory of Dororthy Snashall in the garden. I bought wool from an op shop and used the crochet technique that Granny taught me for the back ground. I cut clothes from recycled wool and made a tree by couching down some wool. The back of the work had all the knots and working stitches showing just like a little girl would have left it.
I must admit - I DO NOT LIKE these challenges - but this one was quite wonderful.

I am eating way too many of these........................

in my sewing room working on this quilt...................that has been dragging on for years................

............still cutting out the shapes....................

.........................but I have all the faces of my family.................

..................scattered around the room.......................

............................for me to look at.......................

........................when I miss you all....................

.......................My family.....................

the week that was......................

Dearest Mom and Dad
So.................................... Charlotte bought the HUGEST rat inside the house to show me the other night - the problem was two fold. One - Vaughn is not here to rescue me and Two, Jane will help me with a snake and a spider BUT definitely not a rat.
So, basically, I think Charlotte caught the rat and then when she saw the size of it in the light she thought "bugger that"! Goerge, Charlotte and I stood there frozen in horror - thankfully, it was right near the door and it scurried out!!!

The dogs never leave my side when the house is empty .......

This little bag (made by a student in my class) - matches my new Converse perfectly. I still have Converse that are about 24 years old - so lets see how long these new ones last.

Cheryl was presented with a medal on Australia day !!!

Jane and I went for lunch - to my favourite place on the coast - Ba Vigo

.....................and yes, we are wearing the same top - not deliberately though!

OH     MY  GOSH - the zucchini fritters .....................................

Whenever I eat this salad I get the creamy goats milk cheese all over my face !!

AND then - chocolate deep fried ravioli with mascarpone cheese !!!

This is how I felt after lunch!!

I found this article interesting Dad!

The birds are happy when Vaughn is home.

When we went out for breakfast on the weekend I saw this on the wall next to our table!!

This is what my beach looked like on Saturday!!

All my love
Jenny
