The weekend to end women's cancers

Dearest Mom and Dad
Debs and I felt so privileged to have been part of this great cause. With the donations from family and friends the 1350 walkers raised a whopping Three and a half MILLION dollars!!!!
We decided to sleep in a hotel the night before - as usual, it was Debs who did all the organising!!

We had a wine and a light dinner - most disappointing meal !!

Next morning a bus collected us from the hotel..................

Arrived at the start and to a delicious breakfast.

A few people were dressed up - some wore t-shirts with photos of loved ones.................

Debs and I.................... ready to go!!

The route was well marked...................

Brisbane looked beautiful...................

Still looking and feeling ok - no blisters....YET!!

Honestly Mom, it was such a special event, the people along the way - children baked for, sprayed water on us, men had ice cold water for us. And I have never been so happy to see a Bikie at a intersection with a jar of Vaseline!!!!
The volunteers at the stations cheered us on, fed and watered us, and saw to our every need....................

We arrived at base camp - we were treated to facials, massages, stretching, food and the feet doctors - I needed them desperately!!
Our luggage was also waiting for our collection.

All the tents were set up.....................

Dinner, breakfast (both delicious) and the evening entertainment was held in this huge tent.
It was wonderful to hear from the researchers who will have the money at the disposal, to hear the moving stories from survivors............................my words are not enough.......................

Debs and I completed the walk in good time, together and very emotional. We enjoyed a vegetarian German sausage (who knew) and coke.  We then had a little rest on some bean bags provided by one of the sponsors.

We received our T-shirts....................

Participated in the very moving (we cried AGAIN) - in fact we did a lot of crying - and then we went home!!!!!
Debs and I recovered well - we were not stiff - but my blisters are shocking and I think I will definitely lose a toenail - if not more!!

I cannot begin to tell you how extraordinary the weekend was.
